Welcome ASSP Greater Calumet Chapter Members – 2019~2020 year!

Posted: Sep 05, 2019

Dear Chapter Members and Students,

As we begin our new year, I would like to welcome everyone!

It is hard to believe that fall is around the corner, and we are beginning a new year.  The board members of the Greater Calumet Chapter met up this summer working diligently to set up great speakers for our chapter members, students, and guests.  I am excited to say that with strong commitment and persistence, we have a great line up of topics for this year’s technical meetings.

Our first technical meeting will be held on September 12, 2019 when our speaker Lt. Emerson from the Beecher Police Department will talk about the “Best Practices and Preparedness in an Active Shooter Event.”  Please save the date!  We are very excited to have him “kick off” our first meeting of the new year.

Meetings this year will be held at the Purdue University Northwest Student Union Library Building in the “Room with a View.”  We begin at 7:00 am with a hot buffet breakfast and camaraderie with fellow safety professionals and safety students.  Please feel free to bring a friend or a fellow coworker to join us.  ALL ARE WELCOME!

We have other events to keep in mind in the coming months!  The ASSP Leadership Conference is scheduled for October 10-12, 2019.  It will be held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, Illinois.  Additionally, OSHA in partnership with Joliet Junior College is having an “OSHA Temporary Worker Safety Seminar” on October 24, 2019.  This half-day workshop will be held at Joliet Junior College.  Brochures with further details on these events will be provided at our September meeting.

We have a new member to our chapter, Marissa Wilko, who has recently graduated.  We welcome her and look forward to seeing her at our first chapter meeting in September.

Our Chapter is always looking for individual members to volunteer their time in fulfilling chapter functions (Membership Chair, Vice President etc.).  If anyone is interested, please see me or one of the other board members to see how you can assist the chapter with your time and talents.

Again, please mark on your calendar “September 12, 2019” for the first ASSP Greater Calumet Chapter breakfast meeting for 2019-2020.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Sincerely,

Michele Crider
Chapter President of the ASSP Greater Calumet Chapter

ASSP Greater Calumet Chapter Recognized – Bronze Level for 2017-2018

Posted: Sep 25, 2018

ASSP Greater Calumet Chapter has recently recognized by the ASSP National Office for their achievement.

The ASSP Greater Calumet Chapter has achieved the Bronze level of Chapter Recognition for the 2017-2018 chapter year!  This status is based from the information the chapter submitted in the Chapter Operations Management Tool (COMT) of 6/30/2018.

The work that goes into achieving this level of success is a true testament of our drive to benefit the chapter members and the safety profession as a whole.
